Your trip starts in San Jose , the nation's capitol, located in the central valley. This will be your base for 3 days while you explore the central valley and get to know it's warm culture and people. You'll take a full day tour of the area that includes a boat ride down the Sarapique River past waterfalls, with a visit to Poas Volcano. If its' quiet you can hear it gurgle! There'll be time to shop while you are in town and don't miss the remarkable woodworking.

Then you're off to the jungle, by air conditioned motorcoach through the Braullio Carillo Cloud Forest, through coffee and banana plantations until you reach the canals of Tortuguero off the Caribbean coast. Here you'll visit coves where the water is mirror like and howler monkeys swing from branch to branch above you. Bring your hiking shoes and binoculars because the flora and fauna here are spectacular. If you visit during nesting season you'll watch giant sea turtles drop their eggs into nests before they lumber back into the ocean. This is an adventure for adults and children. All meals are provided at your jungle lodge.

You'll fly by light plane from Tortuguero back to San Jose where you'll pick up your rental car for your 2-3 hour drive to La Fortuna at the base of the Arenal Volcano. You'll drive past tropical plant farms and stop to catch the views through the mountains off the Gulf of Nicoya . Once you arrive you are in for spectacular views of Arenal . On a clear night you can watch the sparks fly off the mountain! From the Tabacon Hot Springs Resort you have unlimited access to the Hot Springs . This unusual resort offers a variety of pools where the temperature and settings are different. Sit beneath a hot springs waterfall and watch the monkeys. The kids will love the waterslides and you'll love the full service spa.

The next day you'll travel through the mountains to the Pacific Coast . The drive is only 3 hours from La Fortuna unless you find yourself behind a banana truck! Drive to Puntarenas where you'll catch a ferry across the Gulf of Nicoya to Tambor . Your five star resort is cut out of the jungle on a black sand beach. This is an all inclusive resort where you'll spend your afternoons napping in a hammock next to the shoreline. There's a nine hole golf course located right next door. Be sure and save time for some of the interesting excursions offered there. There's nightly entertainment, a casino, pools and plenty to do.
